Javelin 389 SE- Question about hole shot?

I have a 1997 Javelin 389 SE w/ a 175 Evinrude Intruder and a 6-in jackplate. I also have hydraulic steering on this boat. I am running a 24p 3-blade prop and the motor keeps blowing out or cavitating when I go to take off. I make sure the motor is trimmed all the way down when i take off and it still does it. I have ran a 23p 4 blade and a 25p 4 blade prop, and they all do the same thing. The boat seems to do it more with full livewells and i have to feather it to get it out of the hole. I have no problem with top-end speed or handling once on the pad, its just the problem of getting it on the pad. Do you guys think its a jackplate problem or do I need the prop worked. I don't exactly know how far below pad I am running, but I know that the motor is failry high on the plate. If its a JP problem how far do i need to drop the motor on the JP.. How far below pad are you guys running your boat with a similar setup.

.Champdog.....Start at 3 1/2" below the pad, maybe 1/4" up or down to find the sweet spot . If you are running a stock Raker prop it will blowout a little as the boat rolls over, thats just how they are. .<>rob<>...

Rob, I have a stock Raker 24p 3 blade and a stock pro-tech 24p 3 blade prop, but the pro-tech prop seems to be smaller in diameter, but the same pitch. which prop would you run and will there be a big difference between the two props.

It sounds to me like you are too high on the plate. I used to run Javelins and it always seemed like they run the best with the motor deeper in the water than many boats. Do like was mentioned above and take it down to 3 1/2 inches below the pad and you shouldn't have to come up much if any from there. I always got my best performance on the bigger Javelins with the Raker prop so that would be the one I'd be trying if it were me.

you also in my opinion may have to wait a few seconds till the nose is down a bit more then start going up on the trim. My gambler was like that you did not as soon as the nose was up start trimming up you let her drop then bring her up on the pad. my 201 does blow a little but I usually let her drop then start trimming up. do as chad says as he is a good dude to get info from.

Champ....Are you are talking about a Power-Tec prop?, I could not make that prop run good on my Javelin. Power-tec props need to run higher then a Raker, around 2 1/2" below the pad, that set-up did not work for me...Just my .02...<>rob<>...

Rob, maybe it is a power-tech, but it actually made my boat run better than it was running with the raker. I checked the raker and did not have hardly any cup in it. I measured the boat and it is running 2 7/8 inches below pad. I have sent the raker to get it reworked and I think that will solve a lot of my problem. I don't remember the bat doing this when i bought it about 2 years ago.. Thanks for all the help guys.
