I have a '98 Javelin 379B with a Johnson 115. The engine still runs when I pull the kill switch off. It will crank and run without ever putting it on... Any ideas as to what I should do?
Thanks,

Dhunter68,
I just had an issue with my 379T kill switch. I couldn't figure how to get the doggone thing back on thereAnyways, I finally went to the dealer for instruction and he told me. The newer boats, at least '98 and above (OMC), the kill switch doesn't work like they used to. It used to be where the kill switch grounded the ignition and would shut the motor off and prevent it from being started again. Now, it just switches the key to the off position cutting the motor off. You can still start your motor without the kill switch engaged. The next time you are in your boat, turn the key to the "on" position. Pull the kill switch lanyard and watch the key go to the "off" position.
You mentioned the engine still running after you pulled the kill switch. I can only assume you meant you were able to start it after you pulled the kill switch. That is normal. It should kill the motor if you pull it while it is running, though.
Hope that helps!
