    Re: 300hp E-Tec? (papalambo)

Let me assure you it is coming & soon as well. It Is nothing to do with the 250HO. I also know who is getting the first one to test. It is bigger than 300hp. I have posted before what I believe it was going to be & cannot add to that. It is designed for BIG BIG boats.

So they are going to do a 350 to compete with yamaha's new 350 4 stroke.

I believe so. These motors are going to revolutionise the big boat market. Heavy duty everything but light in weight. BIG heavy duty gearcases built to work hard. Made for BIG boats. Their performance WILL astound. I have been building 2 websites dedicated to OMC heritage. One thing I have learnt while collecting info was about the OMC SeaDrive's introduced in the 1980's. These engines were designed to go onto the back of boats that normally would have big sterndrives or inboard motors in them. Everybody was astounded at the increase in performance over the much larger the 4 stroke inboard car engines. The SeaDrives never really gained acceptance, why, I just don't know but I reckon an outboards based 300hp plus propulsion unit is going to rock the big boat market. I am not saying they are a SeaDrive style cos I don't know but I tell you if BRP are building it, it WILL be a winner.

That would be good if they can keep the weight down. The F350 4 stroke weighs in at 800 punds. I am just waiting on someone to try and strap it on a bassboat.

    Re: 300hp E-Tec? (LIQUID NIRVANA)

I AM NOT SAYING THAT THIS IS WHAT THE DESIGN OF THE NEW MOTORS ARE BUT This is what was around in 1981. Have a read through this old OMC Brochure. Check out pages 8 thru 13. Just bolt em on the back & go. No major mods required to inboard & sterndrive boat. No well to take up room. No big heavy inboard motor taking up huge amounts of space & the bonus is a massive increase in performance over the sterndrive driven boat, easier to drive & less bow up attitude while underway. These big boats were up to 10mph faster than the same boat fitted with a far larger sterndrive & was far better handling as well.

Here you will find the independant writeups on the boats with these propulsion units.

I know the weight of the new 300 ETEC but am not sure if BRP wants this info out there yet. I can tell you its just a tad over our current 250.. When it will show up at dealerships I do not know. We are keeping our hopes up that it will be at the Maimi Show this winter.

My new bay boat is rated for 300hp.I was waiting to power it w/ a 250H.O.,but if the 300hp will be out pretty soon,I'll get the 300.Really want to go w/ E-Tec.Had twin 175hp motors on my last boat and loved them.Just downsizing to a little smaller boat.Hope it'll be soon

    Re: 300hp E-Tec? (papalambo)

The 300+ is for bigger heavier boats whereas the 250HO is more for the go fast performance group. What boat do you have?

Perfect choice for a 300. You can load her up as well. The only thing is that I believe that it will be more than 300hp. I was told about 8 months ago it was a 350hp. We will see!!

    Re: 300hp E-Tec? (LIQUID NIRVANA)

Thanks for your opinion.I've always liked to power a boat w/ max. rated hp.Didn't want to go w/ anything but E-Tec,but was tempted when biggest E-Tec was 250.Most Bay Bolts I've seen, had Yam 250 4-strokes.Didn't want that.I'm just glad E-Tec's stepping up to bigger motors for boats rated for 300hp.Think I'll be real happy with the 300
