Choke switch operation on Yammy 50 esd jet drive motor

    Hey folks,

Bear with me... I am pretty new to all this outboard motor stuff...I just replaced a snapped main impeller shaft and motor seems to be running mostly OK. It's a little shaky when idling and that might have more to do with my ignorance about outboards than anything else, but seems to run OK when throttled up. I have yet to have a chance to put in the water.

On my remote, there is a momentary contact switch under the key switch. I found out it is a choke switch but nothing I can find tells me how to use it. I have a manual for the motor/remote control that I downloaded off the internet but it makes no mention of that switch. I did find somewhere that that switch was on earlier versions but no other information was to be found . The manual I have only shows a plug where the switch should be.

Can anyone tell me how that choke switch is used?

    Thanks!

    Tim

The choke switch is included as part of the key switch assembly for those motors that have a choke.

A 50ESD does not use a choke. It uses an automatic fuel enrichment device known as PrimeStart. So, the choke switch on your key switch panel is doing nothing. It is not connected to anything. Does not need to be.

OK...when I lifted it, the sound of the motor seemed to change, almost like the idle smoothed out. Maybe I was expecting something to happen so in my mind, something did...weird. The mind plays strange tricks sometimes. Anyway, thanks for the info. As always, you've been a great help.
