    Zx225 help

Ok so I just bought a friends 03 zx225 and took it out Saturday. Now he said it runs 71-72. Well it would only run 65.7 on GPS. I only had 1/4 tank of gas and not much stuff in the boat. I'm running a yam 27p prop. Prop shaft is 3"
below pad. And I was getting 6000 rpms. So now what do I do?

I have the same boat and get 74mph. I run a 25p prop. Is your prop 3 blade or 4?

    Is it a 27T1 or 27M? Something doesn't sound right if you're turning a T1 6000 rpm 3inches below pad.

I'm at a loss on this one . Are you sure your tach is right? I had one go bad on my 01 ZX200. Is it a 225 HPDI? What was your water pressure? Were you over trimming? I'm asking all these questions because my 06 ZX225, with the jackplate almost all the way up would turn 6000 rpm @76 mph.

My 225 EFI would turn that 27 pitch prop without trouble.....after it blew up and I got an HPDI, it wouldn't turn that 27 and had to switch to a 25....runs much better with it. I can run 68-70, fully loaded gas, livewells, and two guys....

I have same boat with an 225 ox66 with a 27m and I only get 67 mph with 5900 to 6000 rpm. I have a 25t1 on the way and ill see what its going to do.

Yes it's a 225 hpdi. I tried different trim positions. Water pressure was 15+

I'm going to run a brand new 27 t1 prop this weekend to see if its the prop. Mine has a few nicks in it.

Never ran my boat for top speed... 08 ZX225 with 27T1 prop around 5500 rpm and 20-25 psi loaded with gas, live wells full and 2 guys I've hit 67. The previous owner said it was a low 70 boat with same set up... It I've yet to hold it long enough to see it it'll hit 70.

Most guys I've seen and talked to are running a 25 prop and report 70 plus a few. I'm no speed demon so I'm gonna run this set up.

My boat has a tuned 25T1 and will run 70 max empty at 6000. Usually it's 68-69 which is plenty fast enough for me.

My buddy here locally has the exact same setup (except mine is a dual console) but his 25t1 is perfect and has been "fixed" up by Croxton....mine will run 68-70 loaded up with the not so clean prop. His runs 73-74 loaded up (I witnessed it). A clean blueprinted prop will make a world of difference.

I have a 07 zx225 with 25 T1 and can't break 65 and I was told by Yamaha that the 27 is to much wheel and won't get the rpm's high enough, the Yamaha has to run between 5800-6100 for peak performance, could it be a jack plate issue? What's ideal plate height

I'm guessing you're too low on your plate....they like to ride high.
