Not sure "cleaning" it will work. It sounds like what happened to mine...it was left in the boat by the previous owner and water froze in it...it was ruined. I had to buy a new one.
Buy a new one![]()

Yep its shot. Buy a new one or send it back to Faria if that's the brand of yours and they will fix it for $15.00 plus shipping.

I got mine off Ebay
If you've ran grass or into a sandbar, it could be clogged. But being that you're up north, I'd imagine froze/busted is more likely.
To answer your question ...... disconnect the hose from the back of the gauge, then disconnect the hose from the hose barb fitting on the block of the motor (located on the top starboard side on a 2.6L) ..... once disconnected from both ends, use compressed air to blow any crud out. I like to use a glass jar to catch the opposite end so I know for sure what came out.
Good Luck!
