    FX20 in rough water?

Wondering how the FX20 handles big rough water? Im looking to upgrade my boat and I need a boat that can handle rough water. I have heard lot of good things about the FX series but not a lot about how they handle in rough water.

Also one of the boats I am looking at is a 2010. What has Skeeter changed in the FX series from 2010 to 2012
    Thanks

Handles great! I know where there is a sweet dealer demo you could get for a great price. Call Carl Jr. At Grace Marine, Bettendorf Iowa

Don't think the FX has changed from 10-12. FX rides nice and is tweaked for speed. If you want the absolute best rough water ride though, check out the Iclass. This is Skeeters best rough water hull, it has more forward weight and a slightly deeper keel. Either one is a great choice though.

It did change a tiny bit as far as I could see when I looked at one recently. The tuff coat covers the whole tongue now, the gas caps are chrome and positioned different. I think the steering wheel might be different as well. All cosmetic and very minute changes but there were some changes

I guess my thoughts/opinions are the FX handles pretty nice. If the water is rough enough that it doesn't then why in the hell is one out in it? Other boats may handle rougher stuff better but it is the old saying "just cause you can doesn't mean you should!" If it is that rough my ass is out of there!

Forgot about that. Yes, the gas tank/cap change was significant, the new models have the new anti back splash tank just like on modern cars. This is a REALLY nice feature because it's hard to know when your tanks are full and this prevents spilling gas on you and the boat. Wish my 2010 had this.

As far as rough water, in this part of the country we have some big water, Lake Ontario, Lake Champlain, tidal Hudson etc, so if your fishing smaller lakes then ride might not so critical. That said, I definitely notice the improved ride whether is two foot chop or 4 footers, but sacrifice a little in handling department. Its all give and take with hull design.

I have had my 2010 fx20 in some of worst that lake ontario can offer. the sho gives you a lot of power but it is still a lighter boat than an iclass or ranger. i beat most bfl guys to the spot but I think I am getting too old to beat myself to a pulp all the time. my next boat will be a heavier ride. they are all nice, it is just personal preference. Don't get me wrong, I am not dissatisfied, i love my boat.

I have a 2011 FX 20, and after coming from a ranger, I would say they are fairly similar in handling the "rough stuff". The main difference I see is actually when running the TM, and maneuvering around logs and bump into one, my old ranger would be solid, but the FX will bounce off, and about throw you off the boat.

The FX is a good riding/running boat and I think they probably have one of the best rides in the 20' class, but if you are wanting the best ride possible and not to worried about the most speed I would check out the 21 IClass. In my opinion it's the best riding boat there is. If you don't care to travel a bit I bet I can save you a ton on a new order FX or I Class!
