    PHOENIX and SKEETER...the future

Everywhere I look its like "the bass boat is re-born" in some revolutionary hull design by Phoenix...hard to believe of course BUT what is actually going to happen as a result of this market share change?

IMHO the other boat makers are going to do what they must...and what they must is to find out exactly what the "major selling points" are as far as design and copy all they can and even half copy any patented things.
I seem to to remember Ranger was the boat of all boats for all time...back when, actually way back when.

All I am saying is market forces, as we see in the new Skeeter models, will narrow any design gap in 5 years or less...the toughest part is to narrow the service gaps.

The only reason for this post is to assure readers...
we have, "been there done that"...
hold on for some nifty competitive stuff the buyer will like.

Are you saying that Phoenix has built a boat that has cut into the Skeeters market share? And if so that Skeeter will begin to copy the innovations that Phoenix has brought to the table to narrow the gap?

All of this may be true but your last statement regarding service is key.

My boat Skeeter is at the factory right now. They know there is a issue but cannot find the reason for the top cap screws to shear off. I have emailed numerous times without reply, called to only get .."I will find out and call you back" and never get that phone call.

Where my buddy who owns a Phoenix had a warranty issue (faulty cleat that broke some gel coat) had his boat picked up by Phoenix 3 days after I hauled mine there. He was called when it arrived, He was called after they assessed the issues and informed him of 2 other items he didnt have a clue about. Fixed everything, delivered his boat to him Saturday and Sunday we put about a 28lb sack in the boat. Oh all this time...mine is still sitting in Kilgore either at the factory ot the shop run by employees who moonlight thier warranty repairs.

Copy them all you want Skeeter....I just dont think you will match them on a personal basis.

    The Bottom Line Summary Points

    What I am saying is:

    1...Markets are what they are
2...To compete you must keep "market share"
3...Phoenix is on a roll that will (has) forced others to step up
4...Buyers will benefit the next 3 years or so because of this competition
5...Skeeter has responded somewhat with the ZX20, only somewhat.

Re: The Bottom Line Summary Points (reelman)

I do think you are right in that Phoenix has added another healthy option to the market which will in turn force all Manf. to step their game up.

Competition is healthy and in the end the consumer will benefit.

You haven't seen the new 921. It has the massive front deck you desire.

I believe that you are wrong.... When Phoenix started they bought the old Bee Line company/manufacturing facility, designed the new Phoenix molds, and have been building the new Phoenix boats ever since...

Woody, I respectfully have to disagree. Phoenix has never been under another name. Maybe you are thinking of the players that had successful careers at other manufacturers. Just because they were associated with other boat designs certainly doesn't mean that they haven't brought innovation to the market. My 719 is nothing like anything else I have owned. I am not here to say that Phoenix is the end all be all but, IMHO they have certainly raised the stakes! That being said, I do believe all manufacturers will benefit from that, including Skeeters already good design.

I remember the same accolades about the Tritons when they first came out. Now you can't give one away.

    Re: (ZXskeeterB)

IMO, I think Triton's issue (other than getting bought --ouch) is they "took their foot off the gas" and lost all their momentum. These days, you can't afford to do that (in any business) because there is always a "Phoenix or Bass Cat" right next door.

Your right the Triton dealers are not giving them away, they sell them. All the Triton dealers inventorys are low.

    Re: (jjtriton)

The main reason Triton dealers inventories are low is Triton was out of production for at least two thirds of the 2011 model year. The 2012 model year will show how much Triton can rebound in market share.

    Re: (Rocky Top)

It was a good move for Triton to get away from a engine company, the timing could have been a little better but the change allowed the dealers to move most of their inventories.
