    20I with a 225 HPDI...

Found a 20I with a 225 HPDI that interests me if I can sell my current boat. I saw a similar post somewhere but can't seem to locate it now. I read several members saying that it should be maxed with a 250. My question is how much are you really losing by going with 25 less horsepower in this boat? In the end would I really be that dis-satisifed if I opted for the 225?

Kind of under powered with the 225. Depends on how good of a deal you can get on the 20i. There is the HydroTec option for the motor. You could have this installed and bring the 225 up or past the 250.

always max out your boats HP unless you plan on keeping it until it falls apart, otherwise it's a big negative for resale...

The 20i weighs a few hundred pounds more than a ZX225 for which the 225HPDI was made for, so you won't see your boats max potential...

That being said, it should be better on gas though...

I have the 250 on my 20i and its plenty fast enough. I dont think the 225 would make that much of a difference. You would prob be running high 60s. Mine runs 74.6 GPS with the 250 full of fuel and 2 people.

I'm told that the 25 horsepower will result in roughly 3-4 mph on top end. Maybe a slightly slower hole shot. Anyone with first hand experience on this debte of 225 as compared to 250.

Personally if it ran 70 mph with a 225 as compared to 75 with a 250 I wouldn't be complaining. Just my opinion for now.

Have you looked at the 2009 20i at Reynolds Marine? It has a 250 HPDI and is a very good deal at 31K. They would also take your boat trade if you prefer not to sell it.

I would do everything you can to find a 20i with a 250. I have a 20i with a 250 SHO and it runs like your wouldn't believe, 76mph so far and I haven't really finished playing with it. I wouldn't be as concerned with top end as I would be with overall torque and accelaration, getting out of the hole, etc. My buddy has a 225 on his 21' triton (a faster hull) and it is a little doggy. You will never regret going with the 250 and as mentioned above it will greatly help resale.

That is a smoking deal as long as it isn't worn out.

Its nice, and there are more pics on their website. I was seriously considering it but ended up going with a 2010 20i with a 250 SHO. This dealer is also, IMO and that of many here, the best in our area.
