    75 hp E-tec rope start on a dime !!

I was pleased to no end this week with my E-tec

I was out fishing perch and suddenly noticed my depth sounder dying out due to low battery voltage ! (it was unused for over a month)

My main and only battery was near dead and would not crank over the 75 hp.

My wife was not pleased !

Took off the engine cover, out came the rope kit and the book !!

Half a turn with the rope, no real effort to speak of, and the sweet purring soud came on instantly !

Yep, tell your wife that if you had ANY OTHER BRAND OF OUTBOARD MOTOR she would have been paddling home. The E-Tec does NOT have to have a charged battery to be able to start them. They are ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE. Even the 250hp can be started with a rope & NO BATTERY.

Re: 75 hp E-tec rope start on a dime !! (Crosbyman)

This is very good to know. I haven't tried it on my 75hp yet, but one day I was trolling and bumped a dead head with my motor. It shut off immediately. I went back and checked the prop and made sure the lower unit wasn't leaking any oil. Everything looked fine so I went to start the motor and...nothing-it wouldn't even turn over. I checked my motor fuse and connections and just couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start. I pulled out the rope and was about to try a pull start, then realized...you guessed it...it was still in gear.
