wiring a 36 volt trolling motor

Going from a 24 volt to 36 volt trolling motor and have a question. On the 24 volt trolling motor there are two positive leads. One says positive for battery 1 and the other says positive for battery 2. The diagrams I have seen on the internet shows only positive to battery 1, then jump negative to positive to the next two batteries and the negative lead on battery 3. what do I do with the positive lead that says positive to battery 2?

When I went from a 24 to 36 volt I made my jumpers at the batteries instead of at the plug (how it was originally setup). For the extra positive and negative lead I had at the front of the boat, I just taped them together and let them hang out in the hull of the boat.

You can leave it as you have it but you then jump a new battery to on of the 2. This will gve 1 line with 24v and the other with 12v jumping at the plug for 36 volts, if the plug is wired correctly. If you have heavy enough g. running to the front I would do as he mentioned above making all connections in the back. look in the trolling mottor wiring link at the top of the BBC board. Jones Trolling motor is a great resource
