I have a FX 20 with a 250 SHO and keep it in a single garage. I just measured it and the opening is 8 feet 10 inches. I have about an inch or so on each side when I am backing it in. I have done it so many times that it is really no problem, just have to be careful. I would love to have a garage that is 9 x 10. Yes, it will fit in yours without any problem.

Would you be kind enough to measure the height of the enginie, from the ground to the top of the cowling?

I will be glad to measure it for you. I am not at home right now but when I will do it this afternoon and let you know.
With the motor trimmed up, at its highest point, it measures 7 ft. 2 in. Trimmed down it measures 6 ft. 3 in. I hope this helps.
I have a standard 9' door and I have to trim my motor down slightly to clear the top, but you should be fine.
