New Trailer Winch - TZX 190

Posted in the lounge, but thought I'd post here too...

I'm looking for a new trailer winch for my Skeeter TZX 190. I don't power load my boat that often, so it's worn out.

Any advice on a good quality model and any board sponsors who sell them?

Looks like the Fulton XLT is a good bet - 1400lb model ok here?

I bought a Fulton F2 and I really like it...I don't powerload either, and it works great

Common Sense...so rare, it's kind of like a SUPER POWER!

I bought a 1400lb Fulton XLT to replace mine a year ago. No problems at all so far.

By far the most powerful winch I had for 6 rigs is the Fulton XLT...about $100...
BUT if you need it you need it...about an 11 inch handle and 5:1 ratio...

IF winching is a serious issue due to boat wt, angle of launches or physical strength also get those Ultimate Bunk Bds for your outside five ft boards...they are synthetic and your winching will be 3x easier at least...been there with 2 rigs...I like.

Do you have trouble with steep ramps with your TZX 190 ?

I have a heckuva time with the bow going under the roller.

I have a TZX 190 and if I don't get the trailer set in the water, just absolutely perfect, then either the bow goes under the roller or I can not power all the way up to the roller.

Or maybe I'm just not giving the motor enough juice to power up, I'm fraid of breaking something .

OKC ..... mine's the same way.

I've finally figured out the 'perfect amount of fender showing' above the water line when backed onto the ramp for most situations ....... but even still, shallow ramps are hard to powerload up all the way and really deep ramps still make the boat nose into the roller.

Not intending to hijack this topic, but I've had days on some steep ramps where I was wondering if I would get the boat back on the trailer. I bought my 05 TZX new in 2005 and have yet to get it absolutely figured out, just depends upon the angle of the ramp.

Do you have an RPM limit on powering on ?

Maybe I'm just babying the boat too much.

    Re: (BassinOKC)

I don't have much trouble loading the boat on steep or shallow ramps. Again, I don't power load either which is why my winch has worn out. I usually have to crank it up about a foot or so. The Fulton looks nice, but there are a couple options i'm looking at right now. Thanks for all the input guys

    </td></tr></table>

    When either ....
    1. it hits the bow stop .... or ...
    2. forward progress stops and I have to wench the rest of the way.

I usually have my wife loading and I'm backing the trailer in. I have her load the boat easy/slow to get the boat settled in the bunks. She then gives it a little throttle to maintain forward momentum or to get the boat moving forward again ..... and then more throttle as needed. I've seen a time when on an extremely shallow ramp where she was WOT & I was wenching trying to get it all the way to the bow stop.

The one that gets me the most is the deep ramps. It doesn't take much to get the trailer too deep and the tip of the bow of the boat plows into the bow stop. I too had it want to go under the stop one time.

It's definately not as easy to load as my last boat, or my Xpress.

    Re: (Ranger391v)

Not backing in too far is the key. After my boat straightens up on the bunks and just as it is at the front roller, I bump the throttle. The front end bumps up high enough to go over the roller without hitting it. I have never had trouble with it nosing into the front roller
