How high can your run a VmaxSHO on a Skeeter ZX or FX 19' to 20' boat?

How do Skeeters run with motors high on the jack plate? I know the VmaxSHO does extremely well on my current boat at 2" below pad (BassCat Eyra). Also, it does well at 1" below pad too with 17 PSI's. I know the higher your motor on a boat the faster your boat is going to run at WOT. At least from a BassCat perspective. I have never run a Skeeter so I don't have any personal experience but moving up 1/4" increments on your jackplate from my experience is about 50-60 rpms. I have a VmaxSHO and they like to be very high on the jack plate If your boat is getting 18-25 psi. I bet you can raise your motor significantly higher then you think and potentially gain additional 2-3 mph. Just some thoughts might help.

I don't know what my future boat will be but I am keeping my doors open and would consider any input with Skeeters as valuable per my future considerations.

My 250 SHO on a FX 20 is 3 1/4" below the pad. I am running a 27 T1 and can hardly hit 5800 rpms. I might need a 26 pitch. I was at 5600 last week and was running 75 mph. With some tweeking and the right prop I think, with a fairly light load see close to 80. I have only had the boat about a week, so I have some work to do to get it dialed in right.

Just picking on ya 'Swatter. I know you've really enjoyed your new Cat ... and you should, it's a really nice boat.

As for engine height .... IDK about the SHO. I do know the HPDI's like to be in that 2.25" below -to - 2.75" below on 'most' Skeeter hulls and models.

Based on what I've seen out of mid-range 4strokes on aluminum hulls .... and how much higher you can run them compared to 2 strokes ......... your assumption with Skeeter's does not seemed far fetched at all.

Hopefully someone with first hand knowledge (like Doug) will be around soon and can answer your question.

All I can say is the more you play with motor height specific to the SHO keeping one eye on the WPSI many would be very surprised how much more performance they can get doing so. I learned a lot last winter doing this.

I heard Skeeter/Yamaha are developing a new prop for the SHO. I assume it will be a 26P??
