    ZX 225 owners

What length shafts are you running on your trolling mlotors? I currently have a Minn-Kota Maxxum 80 lb thrust with a 45" shaft. I am wanting to upgrade to a 101lb thrust and was considering going to a 52" shaft but really don't want alot of motor sticking up in front. Suggestions?

I would definatley get the 52" shaft. I have had the 42" on my last 2 ZX225's and they are too short. They should come from the factory with a 52" shaft.

For sure....my current TM is the 42" and it comes out of the water way to easy....if/when it takes a dump, I'll have a 52" shaft.

I "believe" mine is a 52" but i'd have to measure it to be certain.

If you fish in any kind of chop, I would say go with the 52. I have a 42 and it comes out of the water pretty easy.

I think I am going to take you guys advice and get the 52" shaft. I found a place I can get a Maxxum 101 for $980. So in a week or two I will be installing the new TM. Thanks guys

You'll love the 101 yes it means another battery but they last all day in the heaviest of current/cover. I love mine and it's never let me down!

    Re: (512)

I have the 45" fortrex, does the job most of the time, but 52 would be nice at times. Definitely not 42". If you fish shallow you will hate the 52.

    Re: ZX 225 owners (512)

I agree if you fish shallow you will hate the 52 and the extra weight of the battery. If you fish big water or current you will love the 101 52". I wish I had both. I have a 101 52" currently.

    Re: ZX 225 owners (JL)

I have the Minn-Kota 52" and I love it!!!! I can get in shallow water pretty well...
Mine sits down almost as low as it will go but still can get it the skinny water...
Plus it last all day!!!! I would never go back to a 24 volt system!!!!
