Suppose to be picking up my new 4 wheel drive Tacoma tomorrow. I assumed that it would tow my 20i but thought I would ask to see if anyone had issues using one to haul their 20 ft boat. thanks!

I use to have an older taco 1999 taco V6 to tow my zx225 which is lighter than the 20i... it was good enough just to get by. My recommendation is get the biggest you can afford. Otherwise with the V6, you'll put a lot more stress on it. It'll work that much harder which in return eats up that much more gas - as oppose to a bigger V8 which doesn't have to work as hard and can actually save a bit more gas that way.
I tow an SL210 with a 200 HPDI on the back with a V-6 4x4. No real issue.. Most times I haul it less than an hours drive.
Sure it burns a bit of gas when towing, but all the times I am not towing I am saving gas over the V-8

I'm sure it will pull it but pulling it and pulling good are two different things. You'll get the same gas mileage as a full size truck with a v8 when not towing.

If you're going to be towing a lot I would definitely step up to a V8. Occasional/light towing, I don't think the Tacoma will miss a beat.
I will say that the '08 Tundra tows like a gem, even the 6000 pound saltwater boat.
I wouldnt pull my 20i with a Tacoma. It isnt so much the lack of power from the V6 but the brakes. I dont think I would trust the brakes. Sure the boat has brakes but they will just lock up and push the truck. That is a heavy boat to tow with a light truck.
I pulled a 16ft trailer full of Christmas trees last winter with a buddy's Tacoma and yes, it pulled it alright but if someone in front of me slammed on brakes, I would have been out of luck.
Although I like the looks of the Tacoma better, my Tahoe is about to be traded in for Tundra here real soon. Just my 2 cents and good luck!
I guess it depends on whether you have a lot of hills or not. It's always better to go bigger than you think for safety reasons like stability and braking. Like what others say earlier, the V6 will work harder and will wear out faster than a V8. I have an 08 Tundra with a 5.7 V8 pulling a ZX190 and most of the time I can't even feel it.
