    motor size question

i have a 95' 200 zxd with a 200 xri Mercury on it now. I have to do a reuil on the motor and might upgrade to a newer motor. The xri weighs 400 lbs and most of the newer motors weigh p to 100 lbs more. Will this be ok on my boat? Any sugestions on what motor to eplace with.

    Thanks for the thoughts.

    Re: motor size question (nacoa)

Since you're already set up with a Merc (guages, oil tank, controls, etc) then I'd lean toward a Merc. Optimax ...... unless your Merc dealer is not any good when it comes to Service.

If you're considering 4 stroke, then it would have to be the new SHO.

In the long run, whomever is the best dealer in your area is whom I would go with (Merc, Hammer, JohnRude) ..... but remember too that mechanics come and go at boat dealerships .......... I've seen dealerships go from being the best to the worst just because one guy left.
