    Dying to Know Skeeter Question

Never been on a Skeeter, but the stern design has also raised a question in my mind. The way it slopes from low rear to higher forward (looks almost ramp-like), it seems that it could take water(waves or when coming off plane) over the back easier than other designs, like Triton.

What do you guys actually experience? Thanks!!

No problems here, shut down with no water coming in. If memory serves me correctly, the sponsons on the rear of skeeters are partially designed for that very reason.

Re: Dying to Know Skeeter Question (MI17Explorer)

Go to Skeeter's web site and watch the demonstration videos. They show running WOT and pulling the dead man cord. Boat comes to a stop with no water over the rear because of the sponson design.

I can fix it, and if I can\'t fix it, I can fix it so no one can fix it!

Only time I have taken water over the back is backing into waves at the ramp. Under normal conditions, it never happens.

Mine will have water come over the back if I shut it down quick. I just ease off of throttle, not really a problem.

same here..even when I'm trimmed all the way in before a stop, if I stop too fast, or don't gun it a little when the wake catches up I'll get water in the back

Water comes over mine if I shut down to fast. I just give it a litttle gas to keep it from coming over the back.

    Re: (charlie mcmahan)

Thanks guys. Just was curios. It's quite different from the rear design of Tritons. BTW, I use the "gas it a little as the wake catches me just as a precaution, but its typically not necessary.

    Re: (RBSKEETERFX)

I have run it out of gas twice at full throttle, the rear sponson design did not stop the tidal wave. It may have lessened it some, but it backwashed quite a bit. I try not to do that anymore.
