I can't say that I tried every position imaginable, but I tried several. It has a little arrow on top. I installed it pointing forward, backward, left and right and last pointing to the sky. Each time did the calibration and afterwards it worked perfect. Then, after all that, I just installed it normal-horizontal and glued it down. I don't have a pic. Nothing special. It just lays flat and works. I think the reason mine worked so well was that I took a handheld compass and verified the location first. If you have problems like that I don't think they can be overcome.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

    This is important.

Magnetic interference - Yes. Like trolling motor, magnetic fields around electrical wires, etc. You can see the deflection with a handheld compass.

Got my steady cast installed yesterday. I followed the advice of fellow BBC members verifying the location with the handheld compass. Upgraded the units to the latest firmware and now it’s time to take the boat to the water for calibration.Hopefully everything works as planned.

Got on the water yesterday. The main mission was to get the steady cast calibrated and ready to go. I followed the directions that Leonard had previously posted and in a matter of 10 minutes I was up and running. The only minor issue I had was I had to make more than two complete slow tight circles to enter the calibration mode.Otherwise it calibrated as expected and is operating great. Thank you BBC members for the help.
