    Still wondering about SX190 setup

Recently purchase 05 SX190, dual console, Vmax 150 (carb), 23m prop.
Motor was in second hole from top, could only get 5000-5100 rpm and not speed I hope for, only about 51 GPS and appeared to be proper bow lift. Lowered motor to bottom hole, slight rpm increase, no speed increase, was blowing out really easy and couldn't get bow lift, so lowered motor to 3rd hole from top, still no rpm increase no speed increase. I was figuring that raising the motor would increase rpm at least if not speed. Have checked butterflies and they are full open at WOT. Thinking next step might be trying a 22 ptich prop to bring rmps upt to 5500-5800 which may help speed. Hole shot never seemed to be an issue. Multiple fue levels doesn't make much difference. Just can't seem to get rpm above 5000-5100. Guess there could be something wrong with prop even though it only appears have small nicks, motor sure seems to be smooth, responsive, and sounds Okay.

I have the same boat and setup; you should be getting close to 60ish and around 5600-5900 with that prop. I had mine mounted from the second hole at the top and ran those numbers and of course depends on weather. Might be a stupid question but are you trimming it out when WOT?

In second hole from top, I can trim out to 7/8 to full trim, bottom hole was blowing out at 1/2 trim, in 3rd hole from top can only get just a little above 1/2 trim before I start loosing bite. Will go back to original hole, which makes prop about 5" below pad and I have others say it should be between 3" & 3 1/2", guess my boat doesn't fall in those dimesnions. When I completely unloaded "extra stuff" (fishing gear & etc.) I could get 54 mph, but no more rpms. Even when I over trim, rpm doesn't seem to increase, should it, as I assume? Possible that rpm guage is off, but don't think so with GPS speed. Thanks for the reply, I would be happy with your numbers.

Put it back to the original holes. That's where i had mine. The 3" wont happen unless you have a jackplate and with that your able to adjust as needed. As your speed is climbing and your trimming the R's should continue to go up also. The gauge could be off but like your said, those are GPS speeds and the speed and R's sounds close. Maybe another thing is if you have a hotfoot, take the air breather off and press the hotfoot down like your were on the water and see if the butterflies open up all the way. If not could be your HF needs some adjusting. I'm not sure what else.
