I Class Live Well Drain Valve

Yesterday I was checking evrything out in the boat getting ready to start the season I went to open and close the drain valves and I think I broke one of them. Iwent to open one and it seemed a little tight I kept easin it and it moved but it seemes now that it is broken. How hard is it to fix it if it is looks like it will be a B@$$%.

Well it could have been the long wire that goes from the switch to the valve or it could be the valve. Almost positive it's the vavle from Rule. I think the hardest part is getting to it and i'm not sure how your boat layout is. I have a SX model and had to remove the oil tank and i think the gas tank. But once out it was easy. I rebuilt the "guts" on mine with the rebuilding kit from Rule. Also might want to check the back of the switch cause it could have broke there.

No biggie they break quit often if they were in o6 and 07,i have not seen that many in 08,09 but im sure there are some.Did the cable break or just the plastic at the controls? Almost 99% of the time the cable never breaks its just the port or stb open close switch that breaks because its plastic. Its about a $15 part if out of warranty.

thanks for the info,I dont know for sure if its broke but it is very easy now to twist the control I am sure something has happened. looks to me like if you take out the charger and the oil tank it should be so you can get to it if you are a very small person. they dont make these things easy for fat people to work on. Its too cold out to worry about today I will have to get my head right before I try and let the weather warm up a little. Thanks again catch a BIG UN

Terry, we keep them in stock. Let me know if you need one. We can also install it if you want to bring it up.

I would first check the T handle where you turn it for open and close. This where almost all break. It's a little diffucult to get out and in.Here is where id look first.

Re: I Class Live Well Drain Valve (skeeter T)

I was plagued with problems on my livewell valves either breaking or not moving easily. In my case, the problem was in the actual valve down in the bilge along with the valve itself. I took apart the valve and cleaned and deburred all the plastic parts then lubed the moving parts. I also gave the rubber flap valve a good cleaning and applied 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I took apart the valve handle and sanded down the shaft and deburred it also, then lubed. The valves have been working perfectly ever since.

The cable may have come loose from the little lever on the valve. Also possible that it is binding on something in the bilge.

Is it possible to take out the back storage compartments to get to the valves easier? Seems like someone mentioned doing that before.

update on the broke valve: took out the charger and the plate that it is mounted to, the valves are right below that plate. the valve is broke, the little arm broke off, very easy to get to and remove, now just need to get a replacement

Looks like a simple fix. Your local boat store should have these valves.
