    Dead motor

well took my 05' 200 HPDI 3.3l to the shop on monday. they called today and said no compression in the fifth and half in the 6th. motor only has 170 hours and had a compression check done on it last aug. everything was fine then. Motor just turned a year out of warranty. Now what. Anyone with any suggestions?

Hate to say it but there's not much of a choice for you other than to pay to get it fixed and then think hard about getting out from under it. If Skeeter/Yamaha steps up and helps you after contacting them directly that would be very impressive and worth making sure everyone you can tell knows they stand behind their customers so give that a shot.

We've got a lot of really fine bug boats down here on Lake Norman and every one of them whose owners that I know personally is having major motor problems and they are all good boaters, good fisherman, and each to a man baby's their equipment yet they still blow up. That's really disheartening as the boats are really nice, ride good, fish great, etc. One guy with a 21i and a 300 HPDI V2 is on his 5th power head, another guy with an 06 ZX225 just put his second on in as many Months, and there's more just like that. All are warranty work which is great for the $$$ saved but bad for the time and hassle of being down.

I really like the look, ride, and layout of the Skeeters particularly the 20i but the Yamaha has me spooked so I'm staying with Merc and would consider an etec as a second option which means Skeeter isn't on the list for me this go round and I'm buying a new boat in a couple of weeks. Have not finalized a decision other than that it won't have a Yamaha on it.

Hope they take care of you on that.
