    Skeeter Question

I went fishing this weekend and I noticed that every time I stop after making a run that water is coming up and literally flooding the back of the motor where the cowling hooks to the bottom of the motor. When I trim it all the way up water is draining out of the cowling. I tried giving the throttle gas right before I come to a stop but it doesn't help. I have had the boat for almost a year and never had this problem before, the only thing that is different is that I filled both gas tanks up. Any suggestions?

Couple of things that I would check would be to first make sure that the cowling is in fact clamped all the way down on the front and back so the rubber seal is closed all the way around. 2nd, I would check to make sure that I didn't have a hole in the water line under the cowling that may be flooding the inside. Others will probably chime in soon.

I don't know how much it would help, but trim the motor back down as you are stopping so it's all the way down once you take your foot/hand off the throttle

    Re: Skeeter Question (blackknife)

Mine does the same but on my motor, the water gets around the rubber seal and when i trim up it runs down the seal. Might be where the water is coming from rather than inside the cowling. Have you pulled the cowling to check and see if there is water in there?

    Re: Skeeter Question (fishin couillon)

Yeah I checked under the cowling and it appears to be that the gasket around the cowling was not sitting all the way down like it was supposed to be. I don't know how it could have come loose b/c I haven't taken the cowling off and have been fishing about every weekend and this is the first time it's happened. But I think it will fix the problem...Thanks for the info guys.

A full fuel load will make your back end sit a bit lower in the water.

Is the jack plate too low?
My buddy has a Cajun andhe has his jack plate so low the cowling is really close to the water.
