    Helix 7 wiring

I am replacing my really old HB Wide Portrait on the bow with a basic Helix 7 (no GPS). I read one of Wayne's posts on wiring where he said to stay off the console wiring panel and wire to the battery with the 3a fuze using 14 AWG. Two questions: is that 14 AWG on the sonar 6' section, and second, it will be another 13 ft to the battery so is 14 AWG still OK for the extension? I cannot believe I cannot find the brochure for the Helix in which I saw wire requirements for distance. Stupid. I will check on Monday, but I pray the boat sales who installed my wide portrait 16 years ago already has a14 AWG to the battery. I do know that unit only required a 1 amp fuze.
    Thanks so much

I jut checked the resource material and I believe the answer is go the battery with 14 AWG

16 or 14 gauge wire will be enough for that load.

The power cord itself is fine for its length.

The purpose of the larger wire is the added length you put on the power cord--wire length=resistance.
