2001 zx 225 oxidation on the top coat

Does anyone know if Skeeter recalled this year due to a defect. I have a oxidation problem and the boat is always covered when not in use. I am in the process of wet sanding it out but thought I would ask first. Is anyone else having this prolem with there boat? Thanks for the help

Can you provide pictures on how exactly your top looks like with the oxidation?

I have a 2001 zx225 too... looks good to me:

yep same here! I own a 2001 sx 200. Mine is always covered and garaged and wiped down and waxed and bass boat saver applied still have oxidation on the top part of the boat...Truly sucks!!! I feel your pain. I have not heard of any recall wish there was or is one.

    Hey
Thanks for the replys. I went to the bass boat restoration board and found out how to being it back to life. Started with some 800 grit and finished with 1200 grit. After polishing and a good wax, she looks brand new. Dont be afraid to wet sand your boat. You will love the new look.

Be careful using 800. I would recommend using 1500 for those who have not done it before. If you feel the metal flake before your start, this process will not work for you.

Use plenty of water to avoid heat build up. You will get a slight milky water while doing it. This is the gel coat coming off. Just keep a close watch on not going too deep. You just want to dull the surface, then polish it with a rubbing compound.

The goal is just to skim the surface of the gel coat to smooth out the surface enough to rid the oxidation.

Once polished up, put on a good wax and keep it waxed and covered when not in use. This is a once or twice fix as the gel coat is not typically thick.
