Anybody running a Garmin GPS up front?

I'm looking to put a GPS unit up front in the bow and I currently have a Lowrance X-96 and would like to stick with a Lowrance GPS, but I've seen some good deals on some Garmin's on Ebay, etc. Was just curious if you could run a Garmin in the factory location or does it have to be modified.

I have looked at a lot of older black and white garmin fish finders mounted at the consoles of Ranger Boats, while fishing BFL as a co-angler, and have found when compared to Lowrance they are dismally lacking in all aspects of fish finding ability. Not sure about the GPS functions.

Thanks for the info. Maybe that is the reason they are always for sale cheap on Ebay!!

I had a Garmin Fishfinder 320c on my bow for a while however didn't like it ver well. The GPS on Garmins works great but sonar is not one of their specialities...I would stick with Lowrance or Humminbird.
