    Re: GPS/SONAR UNIT (stevieraybla)

I would take a close look at the Humminbird. Like the 787c2 that come with Dual Beam Sonar (20 and 60 degree cones) Provided added coverage area at no extra cost, Highest Pixel Count Screen in it's class 640v x 480h, That is curved (hemispherical) like an HDTV or flat screen monitor. 4000 Watts Peak-to-Peak power. I would compare features for the dollar.

Skeeter has now selected Humminbird as Standard Equipment for 2009. Industry leading features is one of the reasons.

Heck, your in S'port. go by BPS and take a look at them. I have two Lowrance units 25C & 27C and like them both. When setup right it gives great readings. I can't say anything for HB, i never had one or seen first hand on a boat working. But that SI sure is nice.

    Re: GPS/SONAR UNIT (stevieraybla)

I have a Lowrance LMS 520C on the bow that I really like, and I just installed a Humminbird 797C2 side imaging unit at the console that I'm really liking as well. I'd say if you can afford to spend about 900 bucks, the side imaging units are amazing, but either way you can't go wrong

700 Series Humminbird and Lowrance 520 are the same dimensions. Both fit in the Skeeter cut-outs.

my boat won't take a dash install. it's a 2003 TZX 190 and all my gauges are round with no room in between. I just mounted it on the ram mount where I had a LMS-480. I don't have them interfaced in any way. I think there is a way to do it via NMEA, but I don't have the need to do it if when you refer to interfacing you mean networked.

like Doug said though the 520 and a H-Bird 797 side imaging unit are the same size so you could install it in dash, but if I were you, I'd keep the 520 in the dash, and get a HB 797 or even a 997 and mount it on a ram mount so you have the best of both worlds at the console
