Is my dealer full of chit?

I have been having an issue with my motor losing water pressure when I hit 56-58 mph (2008 250 Series 2 on a ZX 250, less than 10 hours). I have had my jack plate everywhere between 1.75" below and 4". I moved it back to where it was from the factory, guessing it was 2.5-3" under, didnt take a really accurate measurement of what it was but the other measurments were taken with level surfaces. Hauled it to the dealer Monday, Today I call my dealer and asked if it was ready, they said yes. Asked what was wrong, they said the motor was 3" too high according to a "spec sheet", guessing the adjustment they made puts me about 5-6" under . I know quite a bit and have never heard of anyone having a motor that low, sounds like a bunch of bull. I am thinking they were just too lazy to look at and test my motor, they didnt water test it.

Is it sitting below the factory setting? If so, they maybe full of it.

Ask them how they tested it and where it is sitting in relation to the pad and ask them what Skeeters recommended height is. I think before you throw them under the bus at least give them a test to see what's going on. Maybe they are measuring something different or maybe they are wrong. I find out a lot of times our issues like this come from both parties not communicating correctly.

    Good luck

That sounds like BS. Can you even get the right RPM out of it being that low? Not to mention chine walk. My previous three Skeeters had to be ran high to perform right.

I had the same water pressure issues on my 225 HPDI until I raised it up to 2.25 below pad. Now I am a constant 20-25 psi. Before that I was seeing similar numbers to yours. It is important to note though that at the higher rpms the pressure does drop a bit once the poppet oppens. But 10 psi is really low in my opinion.

Just want to commend Matt Plapp and Jason Hale for their interest in helping out Skeeter owners. Know they are in business, but seem to go out of their way to help out us owners no matter where we are from. We call that "lagniappe", which is Cajun for "something a little extra".

Heck, i just wish we had dealers down here that don't mind giving a little lagniappe after the purchase of a boat. I mean some help , good service, etc. not free stuff.

Re: Is my dealer full of chit? (Neilslure)

    Neil,
I haven't pulled the boat in yet as it is coming a monsoon here and it is covered. I did however get you some measurements on the plate. There is a 1 3/4" seperation in the plates with the engine in the second hole from the top. This is where they all should come in from the factory. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything.

I agree. Jason has been a big help to me in answering my many questions. Matt has helped everytime I asked aswell. Only if they were closer to NC .

    Back to my dealer.

Rigging guy explained how he measured, using cavitation plate. It doesnt appear that he actually dropped the plate 3". I did run the jackplate about where it is now before I took it in. I am pretty sure I will still have a problem, service manager and rigging guy insisted they were right and I was wrong. Gonna run it this weekend, if its not right, they will both be eating crow for breakfast on Monday.

correct me if i am wrong but arent the customers always right. I think I would be on their azz until i was satisfied. I am glad that my dealer goes out of their way for their customers like Jason and Matt do. By the way, Jason & Matt for all of your help on this board. You can tell you guys care about your customers.

Re: Is my dealer full of chit? (Tagg007)

I got to thinking about when I picked my boat up. I hauled it to the dealer in a monsoon with the cover on it. I remember at home before I left I tied the motor cover off to the hydrallic steering ram so it wouldnt blow off. When I picked it up it had the cover on it, sun was shining so I took the cover off. Noticed the motor cover was still tied exactly the same as I had it. They never even took the cowling off, just dropped the jackplate and shoved it out the door. I plan to call and speak with the owner of the dealership about my experience. As things are now, they wont ever sell me another boat.
