    Fuel/Water Seperator Filter Installation

Installed the filter today. Boat's a SX 190. As some may know, there is no place to mount it. The only place was hanging it under the "lip" on the back deck. I came up with a simple drawing of a bracket bro-in-law welded me one. As you can see in the pics, i attached it to the oil tank plate with nuts & bolts. Everything worked out great. This may give some of yall some ideas on what to do or where to put it.

that is perfect!...maybe you & your brother-in-law should make some to sell here (hint, nudge), I'd be down for one as long as the price was reasonable. Skeeter should see that too. by the look of the welds he's very talented....aluminum no less huh?

Jeremy, what year is your SX190? Mine is an 04' and I was thinking yours was the same. However did you re-arrange the gas tank area? It is totally different than mine.

My oil tank is tucked under the far driver's side corner and the starting battery is next to that. My middle area is wide open.

That is where I fabricated a diamond plate bracket for my charger.

By the way, great job on the bracket....Looks well built.

    Just curious.....Chris....

Chris, it's an '05. I didn't change anything around. How do you put oil in? If i need to get to the pumps, i just take the oil tank out. What you see is how it came from the factory.

the one I'm getting is an 03 ZX 190, and the tanks set up is duel fuel tanks. I guess it depends on year, length, and weather it's an i class, SX, or ZX..I dunno.

Re: Fuel/Water Seperator Filter Installation (fishin couillon)

The cap for the oil tank sticks out just far enough to put a funnel into it. There is no way to pour oil in from the oil container without a funnel.

All of my pumps are in the center and wide open. My trolling motor batteries are tucked up against the far pass. side wall and the starting batt. is next to the oil tank on the drivers side.

I need a water sep. and you gave me some good ideas as to where I can install it. Thanks again...Chris

    Blacknife-
Could you send me the pic of your duel fuel tanks? I'm thinking about switching my skeeter from a single tank to duel. Right now I'vve got a single tank and whenever I need to switch gsakets in the livewell I've got to darin and pull the whole tank
    Thanks

I must have missed the boat on the aftermarket water/fuel filter. Is this needed by all Skeeter models/motors? If it's so important, why doesn't skeeter install this as a standard part?

I didn't think b in law was going to use some thick plate but, oh well. I'm not gonna complain, it was free. I think it goes for the four stroke also. It's just a spin on fuel filter.

I think one reason they started doing it is because ethanol is now in basically all gas. my opinion is if you still buy gas, it would be a good idea to have one of these, or at the very least use an additive like Star Tron, or Valvtect.

Go to your local Yamaha dealer. They should have it. They have a few sizes, you want the 90GPH filter kit. If not can be ordered from a board sponsor on here.

by the looks of the separator unit I'd assume it can be set up for dual tanks as well?
