    20i setup

What is the best prop to run on a 06' 20i? I'm looking for overall performance... good holeshot and good top end speed. I realize that there is compromise for both, but I thought someone may know if there was a "best of both worlds" out there. Thank you for your thoughts.

    Re: 20i setup (tkat)

assuming you have a 250 hpdi on it as your motor. you have 3 choices.

    25-t1
    26 turbo txp
    25 turbo txp

I would not consider any other props

    Re: 20i setup (MD ZX225)

ok educate me....I'm running a ZX225 w/a 225 HPDI and a 25-t1. I'm at 6000rpm 73mph by myself and 5600/68 turny load. Now the 20i is the same length and about 150lb more than my zx225. Being almost the same boat with 25 more hp I would think you would go up to a 27". I ask because I'm moving up to a 20i as soon as I can sell the one I'm in.

    Re: 20i setup (5 Alive)

every boat runs different. just going by the ones i have set up before. my 04 zx225 i had ran as good and better than most 20i. the zx225 has a very effecient hull. i ran a worked 26 turbo txp on my zx225. i hit 77.3 once with it but could get over 76 anytime loaded with just me. it ran 72-73.5 anytime loaded with 2 people. your boat is alot heavier than mine is as well, so yours will never get those speeds. the 27 is way to stiff. i ran a 27-t1 and 27 txp alot. i could never get over 55-5600 rpm but they ran good, i just want to see that 6000 rpm. yes you could get a 27 and have it worked down to a 26. remember pitch is speed.

    Re: 20i setup (tkat)

I agree with MD. I have a ZX250 and have a 27 T1 and it runs great but I think I get better performance with a 26 TXP that I bought. Has a little better lift and it runs the RPMs closer to 6k.

    Re: 20i setup (tkat)

I HAVE BEEN RUNNING A POWERTECH CLY200VMX3R25P PORTED 3/8" , ON THE SAME BOAT (20I\250HPDI) WITH STRONG HOLE SHOT, ACCELERATION AND RESPECTABLE AND HONEST 73.8GPS TOP END AT 5700 - 5900 RPM AT AVERAGE TOURNEY LOAD (GAS & GEAR) .I AM STILL MESSING WITH HIEGHT BUT HIGHER SEEMS TO BE BETTER,GOOD LUCK! I APOLOGIZE FOR PREVIOUS RPM INFO, CHECKED NOTES ON SET-UPS OF MY TRIALS AND HAVE EDITED. WOULD NOT INTENTIONALLY GIVE BAD INFO I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO GET ANY GOOD HELP! I THINK THE WATER AND MY HEAD HAVE BEEN FROZEN TO LONG UP HERE IN MINNESOTA. I HAVE PURCHASED A SOLAS SCORPION 15 1/8 DIA X 26 PT AND WILL TRY THIS IN LATE APRIL EARLY MAY.

    Wow,
That is too many rpms on that motor.....( I think)
You have a lot of prop slip turning that many rpms and only getting 73.8gps. I would prop that motor to only 6000 rpms as recommended by Yamaha. I think you might have some warranty issues if something ever goes wrong and the computer registers a lot of time at 6300rpms. I guess your rpms could be off also.
I turned a 25T-1 to 6000rpms and 76.4gps this past Monday. It was cool outside and had a good chop on the water. This has been my best speed so far.
