Installed my first of two new garmins today!

7cv on bow....powered it up and ran through menus some to get familiar with displays...I have a minnkota maxxum trolling motor....the transducer fit in between the prop and skeg with a little room to spare but not much....I'm a little concerned that the tip of the skeg might interfere with the sonar readings...the end of the skeg leans into the downward path of beam just a touch....I'm also praying there is no interference from trolling motor noise....I bought an 18amp battery for just the unit....all in all it went well and the unit, box, parts supplied, instructions, everything was there and explanatory....can't wait till Saturday to try it out....thoughts on skeg?

Forgot to mention one problem....the round knob with screw that attaches unit to bracket....dropped one of them down the hole where old finder was and it is now in the keel of the boat where I'll prolly never see it again unless it flushes to the back of the boat lol....gonna have to improvise or call garmin for one replacement knob...always something these days as I get older lol

Take the other knob down to the local hardware store. The ACE near me has a nuts/bolts section with knobs almost exactly like the ones from Garmin. You will need to search for one the right size and thread pattern.

If you call Garmin they will likely fix you up, but you will have to wait for the mail.

The skeg should be no problem.

Why am I hanging out here when I could be fishing.....
