Transom repair

Has anybody done some minor repair on their transom if minor is possible? I put a 10" jackplate on a year ago and it has really put some stress on my transom. The metal plate that goes over the transom is really creased where the mounting holes are. Can anybody give me some ideas as to repairing it myself. I have access to fiberglass and know how to do it just don't know about the stuff in between the fiberglass. On a scale of 1-10 how hard for a person to do this? My boat is a 1996 ZX 180 Skeeter.

Look in the restoration forum. There are several transom rebuild projects posted in there, mine included. Post some pictures of the transom if you can.

If you have to ask, its probably a 8 or 9 on the difficulty level. On the otherhand, with the correct guidance(the guys at http://forums.bateau2.com/ have been invaluable to me) you will learn you had skills you didnt know about.

Mine started out as a simple transom replacement, but ended up as much much more...
