Where to place the boarding ladder

I bought a boarding ladder from Metalogic for my 2018 RT188. They supply Ranger watches th their ladders. I don’t have a local dealer, anyone want to share some measurements on where the factory installed the ladder?

When I had mine I mounted it toward the port side of the transom. It was far enough to the left that the hook on my Boat Buckle tie down angled up through the ladder and to the tie down.

And that is exactly how I mounted mine, it looks good!

I added this to my RT188. Suggest you add the grab handle on the splash well too.

Are those mounted with screws or thru bolts?

I've been eyeballing the Metalogic steps!

I wanted to mount with through bolts and was able to on one pair but I can’t remember if it was the upper or lower pair. The other pair are mounted with screws.

I used all screws and they are a tight fit with the recommended 5/32” drill bit. Good idea regarding the handle, but where do you buy one?

That is the same handle as on the passenger side of the RT188. My dealer did not have the Ranger one in stock but he found one in a big catalog of Marine accessories. It was $7.00.

You can also get stainless steel grab bars from Amazon. That’s what I put on my boat.

I installed a ladder on the back of my Triton 1860SC a couple years ago, it came from Amazon. Trying it out in my shop what I found with my particular ladder was that when you tried to board the boat it would kick away from you and hit the transom at the bottom. This created an awkward angle, imagine setting up an extension ladder than try to climb it on the inside instead of the outside. I made a bracket that bolts to the ladder and rests against the transom to keep the ladder vertical. I do need to install a handle inside the boat though.
