My wife and I have never been to Kentucky Lake and were thinking about doing a trip early May. For someone who has never been there, is May a decent time to go? We'll be taking our boat and looking for suggestions on where to stay? I was looking at Moors?
Moors is nice. May is a good time. Look at the tournament schedules to see what's going on. The lake is big enough that a big tournament doesn't overwhelm it, but it can overwhelm a single resort.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
Usually lots of different patterns working then so it's a really good time to go. Around Mother's Day is when I normally fill the freezer with bass and catfish as it's pretty much the easiest time of year to catch big numbers.
Moors, Big Bear Resort, Lighthouse Landing, Kentucky Dam Village Cottages...lots of choices of places to stay.
It is a busy time for tournaments but it is always busy during prime spring and early summer months. Still plenty of water to fish and a good time to be here. Can't really go wrong with The Moor's, especially if you are bringing your wife...make your reservations soon though, they book up early.
May is probably my favorite time of the year to fish KY. A lot of different patterns to run and can catch them shallow or deep.
In May y'all can fish the way you like to fish. Fish will be in all stages of the spawn and some will be shallow, some deep, some in-between,
some on top, some on bottom and some in- between
