Just curious if anybody here has used a 10" jackplate or less on their ZX. What performance difference did you get?

I have a 96 180 zx. I put a 6" jack on it, manual, 175hp yamaha, it gave me better hole shot and smoother handling in rough water. 6 inches made quite a difference. Of course it doesn't ride like a twenty footer, but i can trim her down and it really helps in rough water. It was worth it to me. By the way, do you have a single or dual axel trailer?
I have a tandem axle. It was a single axle and the guy I bought the boat from had it custom built to a tandem. Really nice to have but hard to push side to side!!
Maybe he was having the same problem that i have. I bought the rig new and i have put 5 sets of tires on it. The rig is just to heavy for the tires. I now run 8 ply tires that hold 65lbs of air-- i think i got it whipped now. But as far as the boat goes, i absolutly love it. Years ago i used to club fish with a friend who had a kingfisher xl 179. It was a dual console like mine and it had the exact same deck layout as my 180. I liked the layout of that king so when i saw this one i bought it. No regrets at all except for my tire problem. I'm just gonna hang onto it because they just don't make em like they used to and the new boats are just to darn expensive. I went to the houston boat show a while back---ridiculous
Matt, completely agree. I love mine and would trade for anything except maybe a new one. If I remember correctly I think he told me he had it done because it was road walking real bad.
