what should i run

i have an 01 zx225 with a 225 vmax. it has a 27TI on it. it runs about 73 gps by myself at about 5500rpms. what should i do to get more speed. i dinged the prop and was wondering if i should buy a new one before getting it fixed

Your rpms look a little low. Where do you have the jackplate set? Mark Croxton can fix your prop and make it better than new. While he has it you might as well have him blueprint it. He can probably get you 2-3 more mph with a little tweaking and if it's not perfect for your set-up when you get it back you can send it back to him for some final adjustments at not extra charge. First I would make sure you have the rest of your set-up correct so he will know if he needs to add or reduce cupping or pitch to keep you in the right rpm range. I would shoot for 5800 to 5900 at WOT.

I'm surprised to hear you're running the 27-T1 with a 225. Most run the 25 with a 225 and the 250's run the 27.

You'll see your rpms increase to 5800-5900 by swapping props and probably have a better holeshot than you do now.

I'm running a 25 T1 and only get 71 ( GPS ) at 5600 and that's on a cooler morning with flat water. I'm very happy with my prop, but I'm not into speed so it really doesn't matter to me. Dragon Fly in the face at 71 will make you cry like a baby :)
