I have a question about a ZX 225. The one I am buying has a hot foot, can you use the gear shift as the main control for the throttle or are you limited to the pedal only?

Pedal only if the Hot Foot is connected...Why would you use the throttle handle?![]()
I was just curious, because I like to troll for white bass and crappie occasionally and would be very difficult to do so with the hot foot.
it's my understanding that it works 1 or the other, but not both. I normally don't troll, but I have fished for striper and hybrids a few times and trolling with just placing it in gear was enough speed to work in the application I was doing... you'd be surprised how fast it moves just placing it in gear. If you plan to spend the majority of your fishing that way, then you might want to have the hot foot removed. As for as bass fishing and running around the lake, I highly recommend the hot foot as I think it's much safer.

Thanks a million JD I would have to agree it is safer while bass fishing. I will still be able troll then just put it in gear and go.![]()

That's all I do as well, keep it in gear. If I ever troll for species like Walleyes, I just use my bow mount trolling motor on high, but I bought my boat for fishing up in the slop so trolling hardly ever happens.

"My hotfoot pedal goes to 11"
My '06 ZX225 had a hotfoot, but I had it taken out.
How about this?

That would be a great option to have; how much do they cost.
