Cook's Go To, on a Skeeter

I've been looking at getting a Cook's Go To. My lids have foam padding on the under-side. What is the best way to deal with that problem? It's a 1996 SS90. Also, can anyone tell me what the lids are made of?

mine are aluminum. You can use the 3M double sided tape or be very careful and drill just until you almost break thru.

You can see a picture of my lids on his website and also on this one if you do a search.

I built a under the lid tackle organizer out of some angle aluminum and screwed it to the brace that runs under the lid. It will hold 55 spinnerbaits or similar lures. You could easily do the same thing but use those metal shower curtain clips if you want to hang bags of soft plastics. I use mine for spinners, buzz's, and jigs.

I started with a 3/4"x3/4""x3' piece of angle aluminum I picked up at Lowe's. I drilled holes about every 3/4" big enough to get a large spinnerbait hook through. Then I screwed it to the brace on the underside of the starboard side rod locker using SS screws. When I open the lid all of the baits are untangled and lined up right down the inside of the locker. When I closed the lid they swing down and the hook points straight toward the bottom of the boat so there is no way they are jumping out of there. I could post a pic if someone wants to see it. I think it cost me $6 or $7 to build it. The hardest part was drilling those 55 holes. Would be much easier if I had a drill press.

How did you deal with the foam padding? Did you have to cut it out where you mounted the Cook's?

Did you go through the carpet also. Is the bolt/screw expose on the top side? The heads of the bolts for the lid handle is installed under the carpet.

Just bought a set. Work good, but I wished the slots were a bit larger so the hooks on the bigger lures would go through them.

That's why it's important just to drill until you start to break thru. I screwed them from the underside. the point of the screw sticks up thru about .015, so you can't tell it... If I were to do it again, and may still do it, I would use the 3M tape AND screws, but the screws hold it fine.. I've got 50+ bags of worms hanging on the one under the rod locker lid now. The only problem I have is the bags tear, but I use a hole punch and put another hole in the bag. Somebody told me I should use those little donut looking notebook paper reinforcements...
