Ethanol problems
In 1975 our government introduced the ÂProalcool ,the Brazilian program to replace petroleum for alccol (Ethanol) ,since them our gasoline was mixed with a quantity of ethanol up to 25%,there is no gasoline without ethanol in Brazil, exept for aviation and military use.
In 1995 former OMC send a Latin-american and Caribbeann technical director to see what was the effects of ethanol in Johnson and Evinrude problems ,and since them some gaskets,VRO,fuel lines, fuel rail ,filters ,needle valves was changed into ethanol resistant materials and when the ÂFichtsÂarrived some problems related at vapour separrtor box and distribution fuel lines was reported and they changed the materials that made those parts ,before the E-tecÂs was introduced ,BRP import some samples of Brazilian gasoline to perform the tests they needed, since them ,the only problem that we saw was related on early productions of fuel pump and vapor separator ,changed under warranty .
As we ,in Brazil, learned is ,always use original parts ,expecialy concerned with fuel (hoses, primer bulb, filters) to avoid problems.
Do not leave more than 45 days (todays our Premium blend gasoline, wich has 95 octanes ,last for at least 6 months)gasoline in your tank.
If your engine is not an E-tec (Ficht or carburated) make it works every 15 days for at least 10 minutes and once a month put on water and take a ride.
We are proud to say ,as the first authorized of Latin American and Caribbean ,OMC service and repair station ,to work with the people who stands behind their product and antecipating problems ,for today we can see by the internet some posts by owners of a lot of diferent engines makers with problems related with ethanol, and for sure they have a lot.
Congratulations BRP.
