Seems a little low to me. My 188 and 175 HPDI is at 3 1/4 to 3 1/2. Tried up to 3 and boat drove really hard. May be the difference in the HPDI and Pro XS tho

Thats to low, per a tech at ranger. I was just trying to double check. try 2.5 and you will see a big diff, i did. my motor was mounted way to low.

3.25-3.5 is what most of us run, with a jackplate. 2.5,is to high. Watch water pressure, no lower than 12psi, 15psi ok, at WOT.

Re: HOW FAR BELOW PAD 2010 RANGER 188 VX (Ranger 188vx)

i have a 10 or 12 inch jackplate. the stupid dealer mounted my pro xs in the top hole. ranger said to mount it in the 2nd or 3rd. have no idea why.

a mercury ranger tech on here told me 2.5 or 3 below pad. i cant remember who it was. anyway my boat runs faster, better hole shot. water press is 16-18 rpms is 5750 to 5800. runs great. i have 24 temp prop

I called Ranger directly, they said 8 in. plate was the largest to put on. If something happens to your boat, they might not warranty it cause of that!! Only thing left to do is B&B your 24p.

If you really don't remember, please don't quote what you think. 1/2 inch can make a difference in water pump pressures in the engine. 20lbs H20 pressure would make me feel much better than the ones you are getting also. The boat will run and perform best overall with a pad to center shaft setting of 3.25". The boat needs no more than a 8" Jackplate on it or all factory warranty's on the hull will be voided..........................RR
