    rod buckles

I bought rod buckles for my front deck and now I'm nervous. I have to cut into my fiberglass. Anyone do this? I know the newer boats come with them already.

I've never installed the rod buckles, but I know a few 's will help calm the nerves before you start cutting.

I installed one on my boat 5 or 6 years ago. Measure 3 times, cut once. It will be all good. Put some masking tape down to avoid scratching outside the hole. Lay it out well and take your time. You actually have to pry the pieces out after cutting. It is all held in with the spray foam that is inside. Mine looks great and really didn't take much time.

you know that they make rod buckles that don't need that huge hole cut in the boat. just need to drill screw holes to mount them!

Check out the boat restoration forum. Someone just posted pics of this a couple of days ago. I plan on doing the same to mine!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the wiring should be contained in a tube
