I am wanting to swap my units out, but when I took the front LCX27 out the hole is much too big for the HDS7, there is a gap around it and it mounts completely different as well. I imagine the console LCX37 to HDS8 will be the same issues. What is the solution? I really do not want to have to buy new console covers and start cutting new holes.
You could build your own plate for the backing, but I'd say that, or buying the new surrounds are your only options.... Pick up some plexiglass at Lowes and make your own plate.

You can pick up the gray console covers from Phoenix. They don't cost much at all. Or, yo ucould go to your local car stereo shop and get some plastic trim pieces. They might even cut them to your specs for you.
