Do y'all flush mount or ram mount electronics?

For those with a 721 or I guess any pheonix boat should I flush mount or ram mount my electronics?

Here is what I'm thinking about. 10" humminbird at console and 8" up front.

    Or...

Have a 8" at console and 8" up front.

Would it be better on a ram mount? Due to sun glare and shadows on screen or is flush mounted just fine?

    Thanks

    Re: (mswings)

The 900 series will flush fit nicely in the console. For the bow, it will depend upon how the boat leaves the factory. I did not order a "custom" built Phoenix. Rather, I purchased from dealer inventory. The boat left the factory with Lowrance 5 series units. My 900 series would not fit in the bow. But, a quick call to Mark at Phoenix, and he was able to find me a bow shroud that would accept the 900 series. East fix!

Do you have any problems seeing the screens in the bright sunny days either at the console or the front deck?

    Re: (mswings)

I had a lowrance 37c in the dash and a 27c up front, both flush mounted. 99% of the time there was no glare problem. Every once in a while, the sun hits it just right to cause glare. Not a problem for me, and I really like the units flush mounted. My new 921 will have a hds10 in the dash and a hds8 up front, both flush mounted.

Occasionally, I do. I would rather have the mounted in their flush mount locations using their gimbal bracket. You just have to re-enforce the dash, like Phoenix did when they installed A-Mart's 1100 series Humminbirds. His bow graph is mounted across the TM recess just forward of the TM pedal.

    Re: (mswings)

I have a 788 H-bird flush mounted up front and started with a flush mounted 998 H-bird in the console. I had to move the 998 to a ram mount off to the side. I was getting a tremendous amount of glare and found myself scooting up in my seat to push buttons. Basically, for my 5'10" frame it was not the most ergonomic. I think if I was taller it would not be an issue but for me it had to be done.

I'm the same height so that might be best for me too them, what about glare on the front unit?

They will do a lot if you ask.

If there's any glare in front it's not a problem as you can change your viewing angle easily. I'm 5'7" and before I mounted mine similar to A-Mart's at the console, it's hard to see the side scan when the sun is on my back. No problem with seeing the screen in other modes.

I guess I'll be ram mounting them just in case.
