Service Bulletin for Evinrude Direct Injection / E-Tech

Does anyone know where to get or have looged service bulletins? I have a cooling issue with my 2004 200HO in which it won't go over about 98F at iddle. Swapped out the thermostats and played with a seal in the flow control valve. Was told to have a look at service bulletin 2005-05(s) but I don't know how to get my hands on that. Called a dealer without much luck.

    Thanks! Ben

The service bulletins are for dealers only according to the factory.

Since you can't get your motor temp up enough, obtain 2 of the plastic hose "pincher" pliers and squeeze off both hoses to the "blow off" valve on the top aft of the engine.

Run the motor at idle and watch the cylinderhead temps using an infrared gun. They should get up to about 140°F if you installed the 143°F thermostats from a V6 big block E-TEC.

If the motor now warms up with the 2 hoses pinched off, then you have leakage inside the "blow off" valve. Sometimes gluing the rubber seat with Locktite 380 Black Max adhesive will help. If not, then replace the whole unit with one from a 2007 V6 E-TEC and use your old hoses, as the E-TEC's are shaped differently.

Thanks Seahorse. When I was at the dealer, the mechanic blocked off the hoses with vise grips - I think we ended up blocking off all 4 without any luck. He also did try and glue the inside of the blow off valve seal.

do I simply look up this blow off valve for an 07 200HP HO and order that part number / numbers? I assume that I'll have to get the entire unit as it is probably different.

Until I get the new unit, is their any harm in running the engine at the lower temps for the weekend?

    Thanks again. Ben

5006527 blow off valve assembly with hoses

    5005440 thermostats 143°

    339299 thermostat seal

    346152 hose clamp

Use your old hoses and make sure the seals on the thermostats are not distorted or rolled over.

Thank you Seahorse! I'm going to get these coming today.

I think the temp of the new thermostats is a little higher than the original ones in my DI - I assume this isn't an issue?

I was running 40 - 45MPH this weekend at mid to upper 5K rpms on my 25' crest tritoon boat - I know this sounds silly to the bass boat guys, but I'm pretty tickled with the speed as the low end on this engine is unbelivable. LOVE IT!!!

    Thanks again!

The different t'stats make the engine run more efficiently at low speeds. Install the new Iridium QC10WEP plugs and you will have a great running motor whose plugs last a full 100 hours, plus.
