    e-tec and the hot weather

Hi guys this is my first post here, I am glad that I found this forum because e-tec is new engine and it's not easy to find someone own them especially in my country Kuwait.

I paid for my two 250 e-tec last week I am just waiting for my boat to finish in about 2 weeks from now.

Everyone advised me not to buy a new engine that is not yet been tested in hot weather, the temperature reaches 60 degrees in the summer that’s very hot!!

The verado is doing very will in the gulf region a lot of my friend installed them in big boats and no problems till now .. The only this they say it fuel consumption is hi in hi speeds.

The cooling water holes in the e-tec in small and that’s what makes me worried, I saw the water holes in the mercury and the Yamaha is large and many.

I am going to buy them I will take the risk .. But it will be nice if someone can make me feel better.

Re: e-tec and the hot weather (Q8e)

When you say 60 degrees is hot I'm assuming that you are on the centegrade scale? The Etechs are a well built motor that can run without oil if it had to in order to get you back home. What other manufacture can say that? Only Bombarbier can.

    Welcome to the BBC.

We have no problems with the E-Tech in hot weather, the only problem we have had so far is in extremely cold weather but that problem has been corrected.

    thanks rusty,

but dont u agree about the water holes ? they are small i dont know why.

other Q is it true that the oil tank of the 250 is inside the engine or it is out ?

The water supply passages in the gearcase are very sufficient.

The oil tank on the V-6 E-Tech's are mounted in the boat.

Re: e-tec and the hot weather (RUSTY63)

    thanks again rusty,

how fast you think my boat can go with the twin e-tec and how many GPM:

    Length 40 foot
    Beam 9.5
    Fuel capacity 250 G
    Displacement 9000 ilb

my friedn have the same boat with twin mercury 250 EFI gives him 42 miles max.

and is the viberation of the e-tec is the same with the verado or more ?

i am sorry to ask this kind of Q, but i dont have anyone els to ask.

Too much water velocity will decrease heat transfer. Oil tank is remote.

Re: e-tec and the hot weather (Q8e)

Not sure about the speed as most of my information comes from bass boats.

The twin E-Tech's will get Much better fuel mileage than the Mercury EFI.

The E-Tec is a smooth running motor, I would say as smooth if not better than the Verado.

You ask all the questions you want, We will try to answer them.
