That was a painful read. Makes a guy think twice doesn't it?..

It's still trumped by the 5 page thread in the yamaha forum on how the SHO still has a serious blowby/fuel contamination issue

Reply posted over there. Have a look see. Stay on the high road and stick to the facts if you engage with other brand loyalists. It's like a religion so just stick to the facts and let your rig do the talking.

True. I bought what I could afford with reasonable comfort. The SHO would've been super, but I would not have gotten the deal I got. Loving my Phoenix/Merc though.

Thanks, let's see if they want to talk openly and honestly with us as we all do here so we can all learn things and understand these rigs even more which is great for everyone or if they'd rather just b*tch.

If it's the latter, I know I'm not interested in playing ball and hope no one here gets drug in to the ditch over a religious war on which boat is better. No one wins in that war, there's hundreds of BBC threads like that but very few constructive ones. Let's lead a constructive one and see where it goes if anyone from BCB shows up.

The BCB boys are as obsessed as they come about their boat. I got wrapped up in that obsession as well until I realized that there were some things about the Puma and PIV that I really didn't like and was settling for.

After my ride in the Phoenix 721 and getting on the TM I realized that for me the 721 answered my wants.

BCB is still a great boat and I view it as different flavors of ice cream..

I run a Cat but have talked to Scott on occassion about his bird and I see some things i like about them better than what i run. I also see some things i dont. There is NO perfect boat.Everything is always a trade off. To get in one place you give up something else. i would however love to catch up with someone with a 250 powered 721 one day and put it versus my Cougar thru the paces. Speed,, ride, handling, fishability not as a this better deal but merley to see which one excels in which areas. I have been offered a couple of really good deals on a 721 and if/when i decide to buy another one it will be a consideration. I would like to see this hull as well since I had 7 new 201's i can tell you how similar the really are.

I've had a few new 201's as well. I've also had a 721. They are not similar. I knew where I could push the 201 and it fail on me. I never found that point with the 721. That's as honest as I can be. I LOVED my 201's, and still think they are great boats. But the only thing they had in common with my 721 was how many storage lids were on the deck. Past that, two totally different driving, riding, handling boats.

Neal you know the deal i speak of. I am considering it hard when i move. I had this shoulder surgery and been off work for 4 months now so been living off my savings. Even with the 60% disability i am still out about 1200.00 every 2 weeks plus 8k i done paid in medical bills. i should go back to work in 2-5 weeks and hopefully OT will still be wide open so i can get the savings back up where it needs to be for me to be comfortable spending. You know my Cat rolls so i am curious to see how much speed i would give up, ride comparisons, handling etc. Maybe one weekend i can get scott to meet me on the Pearl or I can make to the Rez to fish with him.

Lots of good boats out there...lots of good people running various boats.
No one needs to slander or run down another product. We are all individuals with different likes and dislikes...thus we have Fords and Chevys and so on. Please keep everything positive and represent your brands with good taste.

Lets be honest, those Basscat guys have always been and will always be a cocky bunch of suckers when it comes to their precious boats. I think they are programmed at birth that the only boat worth a damn is a BassCat.
