Trolling motor cable blocking view of graph.

Foot pedal is where it is, graph is where it is... anybody figured out a super cool way to keep that cable from blocking your graph view?

Which trolling motor, motorguide or minnkota? The cable on my motorguide does not block the view.

So your Motorguide cable just naturally lays there like that? Or did you have to help it learn to do that?

I've tried to turn the troll motor and that didn't help.

Hmm.. my mk cable doesn't block my view although the strap sometimes find a way to lay across the screen.

Same here as mine is MK not MG but its the same stuff basically. I loosened the collar and spun the TM head until the cable would lay out of the line of sight when it was deployed. I've had this same issue with every boat I've had, fighting the TM steering cables. I still have to kick the cord out of the way at times since it wants to lay right in the middle of the graph.

When they come up with an electronically controlled TM with a steering motor that's quiet and does not need steering cables, they'll sell a TON of them. A small wire from the footpedal to the TM itself and servos that make it go R or L just as it does now and it would be game over.

I hate steering cables on TM's but it's what we can buy today... The motorized ones are super loud and slow to turn....

The cable just lays that way. When the trolling motor is in the stored position, the cable is directed down and lays on the carpet at the head of the trolling motor.

Twist your TM head to the side a bit more. (Counter clockwise as you look at it from the top)

That's what I mean. It is laying across part of the screen. Thereby, "blocking" my view.

No, I was talking about the velcro strap. I have never noticed my cable being in the way. I'll have to check now when I get home.

Re: Trolling motor cable blocking view of graph. (edowell)

I checked mine yesterday and it pretty much lays like the one above. The motor head lays parallel to the ground with the cable end facing into the boat when stowed. So when deployed it forces the cable to loop to the starboard side out of the way. Hope that helps.

Notice the cable clamps I used on my '07 721 as I had the same problem. New rig I do not see that is going to be a problem as my bow unit will not be flush mounted.

So you actually screwed your T/M wires down to the deck? Is that what you're saying Ed?

Yes Jason that is what I did and thought it would be evident that I had anchored the TM cable down to the deck. Well actually I did not screw the TM wires down to the deck, but screwed the cable clamps down to the deck after putting the TM wires in the cable clamp
