    Question on turning my boat

I have always read post about how these boats turn on a dime at high speeds, I haven't been brave enough to turn it sharp over 40 or 50 yet. One thing I have noticed about my boat is that it turns really easy to the right. But I can barely turn it to the left when it running. It's so hard to turn that I couldn't turn it on a dime if I wanted. I know that prop rotation will cause it to do that a little, but I would have never dreamed that much. My triton pretty much turned the same to both side. I did notice one thing though, my triton did not have a tab on the back of the lower unit, just a flat plate. This boat has a tab on it and it's tuned pretty good to one side. Any idea why that would be and if this would be making it hard for me to turn the boat to the left?

It should be more of a neutral feel on the wheel with some more trimm. Its a happy medium between trim and responsive steering control. To much trim and it isnt responsive (still good just not as much), to little and the prop torque is amplified. Id say just get out there and experiment. What I love about this boat is the window for the different handling charicturistics is so small. That means less imput to get the performance your looking for.

It's always going to be a little harder to turn to the left and easier to the right because of the torque of the prop.

Now, how hard it is can have a lot to do with the setup/engine height.

Get rid of the torque tab. Pretty useless on high engine heights of bass boats and try to cover up poor set ups. Get the flat plate.

If you have probs with torque steer after that there may be a set up issue.

Different engines with different lower units all handle different as well

It's really hard at full trim, but even after trimming it down, it's still pretty stiff. Would it make any difference it I moved the tab around to where it was centered instead of cocked to one side like it is?

Take the torque tab all the way off and pitch it also does your boat have the sabre lower unit?

No, it's stock lower unit. Do I need to put anything in place of the torque tab?

Regardless of the engine...you experience lots of torque when running the engine high as you probably are. Lower your jackplate while running wide open and notice how the torque goes away. Now, speed usually will be slower. I have had torque tamers installed on some of the Honda's to help if you need. My advice, lower your engine on the long runs and enjoy the ease of steering.
But now steering torque is not an issue with the new Verado Pro...I truly have power steering.

yep, engine height and or too much trim. Could also be a prop issue if not height and trim
