Poor guy, that's heartbreaking for anyone to have to deal with.
I hope the manufacturer of the boat in question does the right thing and takes care of him.
Nothing is impervious to failure, things happen, and there may be a really good reason technically why that occurred. What separates a bad experience from a good one when a product fails is customer service and how the situation is handled or more importantly how the customer is made to feel through the process as that drives behavior and response.
We may never know all of the details about the root cause of the situation there in TX with that boat but there is one thing that we do know and can all sleep on comfortably; Phoenix Boats looks after its clientele and that because of that we are happy and return customers (such as Ed with his 2nd Phoenix) because of it.![]()
Hope that fella has better days soon.

Wow...What else can you say??? I currently own a little Nitro and the carpeting fell off the decks after a year and a half. Can't wait to get my 719 ordered.
From the looks of those photos it almost looks like you can see where the resin was thick enough to stick to the gel coat and the other areas almost look like there was space between the structure of the hull and the coat.
Saw the same thing on a different brand. 3 diffent boats did the same thing on the same exact day crossing bad weather, no other boats had issues on this day. All parties had to turn it in to insurance because the company wouldnt cover them. Pretty sad.

Wow! That's terrible. I can't believe such a large company wouldn't cover that. Especially something that only rarely happens. If they would have go out of their way to make it right? They'd have a customer for life from that dude. It makes you wonder what the hell is corporate America thinking sometimes.
What a sad situation ... This is why I generally don't buy used ...anything... I don't have the patience or risk tolerance to spend good money and and have shit happen. When you buy new (and I'll admit, you pay for it) you usually have recourse with defective products....buy used and it's all yours!
I wish that fellow good luck and hope better days are coming for him. It would be really cool if he won a new boat in a tournament .... I wish him well.
I'll bet if he does win a new boat....he'll be hoping it isn't a Nitro. The factory tour really makes you appreciate the quality they're putting into the Phoenix, eh.
