    721,

    Depends on lots of factors:

    Load, elevation, etc.

At Limit Out Marine our 721 with SHO has been running between 75-77.

It's a 76-77 mph boat with a 250 ProXS in this heat. It's an 80 mph boat with that motor in the cool weather.

Junior, I will let you know about the E-tec on these boats when I get mine. I believe they will run faster with an E-tec if it is set up right.

We sell all three brands and i have only run one 721 with an etec 250 its possible we had a dud motor but the one we had just couldnt come close to hanging with the mercury or the SHO. The boat we had was running a hydraulic plate and 10 inches of set back. The SHO has been most impressive and I plan on switching My personal boat to a hammer.

    Re: 721 speed? (nightbasser)

No doubt te SHO may be impressive, but when u say the E-tec did not "come close" what do you mean exactly??? Reason I say this is obviously im an E-tec Guy but my 225 H.O would hang right with a 225 Pro XS on identical tritons. I understand the new 250 H.O. have a faster lower so to me it seems if it is set up right it should, in theory, run with them at least. It always seems to me that people talk down the E-tecs but my first one would really run. The phoenix I test drove had a 250 H.O. on it and i hit 74 with 2 people and full fuel with a lot of trim and rpms left. I could not get on it as I ran out of good enough water. I was in a really rough lake with tons of boat traffic...... (dang skiers)!!!!! Now that being said I am sure the other motors run real well on it but take it easy on my E-tec man, you hurt my feelings. I will do several speed tests at different loads when I get mine and let you know how mine done!!! (if all you other guys would stop ordering boats so they can start on mine )

A Etec is like a box of chocolates........
I will leave it at that.

The 721 is a great boat, and will run good with any of the engines on them.

That is another good thing about phoenix you can still get your choice of engines.

Re: 721 speed? (721 Pro XP)

If the time is taken to set them up right, you the 250 H.O. E-TEC will run just as fast as the other motors. I know of some that are slower but it's because the time wasn't taken to find the right setup and prop for the combo. The 250 H.O. is hard to prop right.

I do think the Yammie and the Merc are easier to get the speed out of straight out of the box without a lot of time and money spent on props.

    Re: 721 speed? (Jason Phillips)

Agreed on the setup!!!! I am assuming this most likely has something to do with the higher ratio gearbox which makes setting it up for all around performance a little different than normal. I just got my 24 omc raker worked by mark in today, Ialso have a 27 tempest plus and a 26 omc raker so I think I have enough to get started when I do get my boat.

Now take that we didnt really have a lot of time to play with it and check for problems other than a diagnostic check and brief lookover. The best we ever seen with it was 75 empty with two guys. The mercury and SHO will both put the boat over 80. We are a dealer for all three but customers in our area mainly choose merc and yamaha. Not to say the rude isn't a good motor at all. In fact they are extremely smooth running and quite. Be interesting to see how yours does and I wish you the best of luck with it

    I agree with this 100%

I have seen it and read about it a lot. A 250 Etec HO on same model boat with same set up and prop is as much as 5 mph difference from one motor to the next. The Etec's have allways been this way, but the 250 seams to be the worst.
